PURPOSE: To show that elestic scattering can occur between two objects without actual physical contact between the objects.
DESCRIPTION: Magnets with the same polarity mounted on air track gliders provide the repulsive force between the two gliders without actual physics contact. Elastic scattering between these two gliders proceeds in exactly the same way as when they contact through the bumper springs.

EQUIPMENT: Air track, gliders from inelastic collision set, disc magnets on spring clips, photocell gate timer.
